Discovery Montessori Academy, Allen

Horrible. Sending my kid there is probably the worst decision we ever made this year and I would give a zero star if it's possible. My kid had to receive 2 medical treatments in very short period of time. I am sending the Texas CCL to make an official report and I WILL NOT trust this facility.

All of my kids (age 1, 5, and 6) attend Discovery and we love it! They are greeted everyday with smiles from the loving teachers. My older children, who have attended when they were younger and are now in the after school program, come home singing the songs they learned from the Chinese immersion class. They also offer additional classes (dance, art etc) and my daughter has loved participating in those as well. I love that I get frequent updates throughout the day from the infant class. Definitely helps ease the worries as a mother. Discovery has remained affordable throughout the pandemic and inflation. Would definitely recommend Discovery Allen!

My son loves this school! He attended several other schools before finding Discovery Montessori. He felt at home in this school from the very beginning. He has made many wonderful friends. They teach him numbers, letters, tracing of words, and they have a lot of fun during story/circle time and also playtime. This school also teaches children Chinese, so kids can have a head start in learning a new language. I highly recommend this school if you are looking.

The teachers in the infant room are the best you can find in town! Ms. Edina and Ms. Alice are both professional and caring, which helped a lot with the transition when my daughter first started here. Ms. Edina has 18+ years of experience IN THAT CLASSROOM! I’m really impressed by the way she handles the different needs of each child, and how she pays attention to what’s going on. Overall, I would definitely recommend the infant program here!

We love this daycare! Wonderful, caring teachers and a great Montessori and foreign language curriculum (Spanish and Mandarin Chinese). Our son has been attending since he was 1 year old (now he's almost 3 years old) and he speaks both Mandarin Chinese and English. The toddler class teachers are very dedicated to teaching potty training, which is so helpful to have someone that cares. The children's playground area is separated for smaller and larger children, and covered with wood chips. The woodchips are something we were looking for in a daycare, because our last daycare had concrete playground floor, and our kid fell down multiple times and sustained major bruises. We cannot say enough good things about this place! Would 100% recommend.

Both my sons (4&6) went to the one in Allen over the summer for the immersive Chinese program. They loved it as did I. The learning style is perfect for the summer where kids are learning in a less formally structured environment. We had never experienced the Montessori system before and decided to use the summer to test it out to see how the boys took to it. I can say that it's worked out really well. Ms. Christy is an amazing teacher and my boys love her. The communication with the administration has also been excellent. I loved that they learn a good amount of language and then spend the second half of the day on a theme per week. One week was on music appreciation. Another on science related activities such as building volcanoes and understanding how it works. Another week was teaching them how plants grow and they came home with Lima beans planted in a cup. (The bean is growing quite nicely in our house to this day!) Discovery Montessori deserves much more credit than some of the reviews I've read. For me it's a been a hidden gem I had no idea existed until I gave it a go and am pleased with what they have done to help keep up learning in all spheres over the summer. Teachers and staff are personable and always have time to listen and give feedback. Thank you Discovery Montessori for a great summer. We hope you bring back the same program next summer!

You won't find a better daycare anywhere! My daughter has been attending DMA - Allen since she was 6 months old (she’s 3 now). During her time at the school, each of her teachers have been nurturing and attentive towards her. My daughter enjoys her time at school and is happy on drop offs. It seems like she is doing arts and educational learning on an almost daily basis. She spends time exploring the outdoors every day as well (when weather permits). I feel the staff at DMA - Allen work hard to make a positive and creative environment where I have seen my child thrive. Thank you DMA staff!!

Discovery has been a blessing to our children and our family as a whole. I always try to let the teachers know how much they're appreciated. I love the fact that they try to maintain a balance between learning and play. My daughter started going there since she was 4 years old and my.son since he was 2. We've watched them grow smarter both educationally, and emotionally. I.would recommend this school to anyone. They're clean too( that used to be my concern when we were Montessori hunting.

My son started at Discovery Montessori when he turned 3, has been there for almost 10 months now and we LOVE it! He has learned how to identify and write the alphabet and numbers. He is learning words and phrases in both Spanish and Mandarin. He has learned all 50 states, the planets in our solar system...literally the list could go on! The teachers are fabulous as well and I love that we as parents are kept in the loop with pictures and notifications throughout the day on their app. Highly recommend this school!
