Choosing a pre-K school or daycare for your little one is stressful, especially when research has shown that the years before kindergarten are crucial for learning and development. Parents strive to find the right place where their child can have the best chance of success. Whether or not you adhere to the Montessori principles, Tree Roots Montessori (TRM) is a top-notch environment for any child. Here’s why we chose TRM and stayed there for 3 years (ages 2-5): >>>The staff operates under a growth mindset<<< We experienced a positive relationship with Ms. Hulya and her staff. Ms. Hulya has over 15+ years of experience and demonstrates a desire to stay current and advance her professional development. She attends yearly workshops and maintains a curiosity for learning. When you find an educator with such deep passion for teaching, it makes a night-and-day difference for your child. >>>The setting is ripe for learning.<<< It’s obvious that everything at this school is designed to advance and elevate the students’ learning experiences. This space is purposefully curated, impeccably organized, and remarkably clean. It continues to pass official health inspections by always adhering to their standards. Think of TRM as a daily retreat or sanctuary for your kids. >>>Intimacy yields social and emotional development.<<< The teacher-child ratio is optimal (including Ms. Hulya, there are 2 additional assistants on-site). The small class size helped our kid develop deeper relationships with other kids and gain a sense of collective responsibility. As younger kids grow and progress, they are encouraged to provide mentorship for incoming kids. It’s these relationships that emphasize social and emotional development, making academic achievements possible (i.e. reading, writing, math skills, etc.). >>>Mealtimes cultivate positive experiences with food.<<< We wanted a place that stressed good nutrition and smart eating habits. TRM always has snacks on-hand (from Whole Foods) and follows a strict policy of ‘no sugar or junk food’ in lunches. Kids participate in setting the table and loading dishwasher, eating their veggies first, and helping with meal prep. These communal eating experiences and regular cooking activities also led to good dining etiquette and meal planning for our family at home. >>>Trust and transparency are key to everyone.<<< Much of TRM successes are attributed to Ms. Hulya and her teaching philosophy. This is why parents must equally invest in developing a transparent working relationship with her. We found Ms. Hulya to be open to our suggestions, honest in addressing our concerns, and willing to provide reasonable solutions for any course correction. Her communication was warm and friendly; mostly done via in-person or phone call (sometimes via text message or email). Overall, we wouldn’t trade our experiences at TRM for anything. Our child felt the support of educators who invested in his development within a loving environment. He now has self-confidence and social skills needed to transition to kindergarten. He has an enthusiasm for learning, creating the building blocks for academic success. He also discovered passions (like cooking and painting) that we’ll continue to foster. We know it’s not always easy to find the right learning environment for your child. Choosing a school can be a trial-and-error process. If TRM is a good fit, you will not be disappointed. Hope this review is helpful --- and good luck!!

Choosing Tree Roots Montessori is one of the best parenting decisions I’ve ever made. When I first called and heard the school was at capacity, my gut kept nagging me to call back anyway, and I’m so glad I did. Ms. Hulya has created such a calm, structured, nurturing environment where her children can learn and grow, and she truly does love them like her own. Before starting at Tree Roots, I felt like my daughter was totally lost in the 28-child pandemonium at her first (private) preschool, naps never happened, and frequent tantrums were a challenge at home. Since switching to Tree Roots about a year ago, tantrums have decreased significantly, she naps every day at school, and she’s become much more patient at home (which in turn has helped me become a much more patient parent). My daughter has learned many practical skills here like writing, math, geography, etc and even taken an interest in embroidery and crochet. I love that they get fresh vegetable snacks here and pool time in the summer, and especially that the children are able to work on things that interest them in such a constructive environment. Ms. Hulya even sends me photos and videos of her working sometimes, which always makes my day. Her philosophy on parent-teacher communication and cooperation is really rare, and she’s truly helped guide me and my daughter through an especially tumultuous chapter of our lives. It will be a sad, sad day when we go to kindergarten. :)

I LOVE this school! My daughter started here when she just over 2yrs old, and it has been the perfect transition from inhome care, to a school environment. I was petrified to send my daughter to a new place, and a stranger, and was worried she wouldnt have the level of love and care that I feel is essential at this age. I wanted her to grow and learn, but I also wanted her to feel safe and loved. I am happy to say that I 100% made the right choice for my daughter by choosing TRM. Ms Hulya is a knowledgeable, caring, thoughtful, and a genuinely passionate teacher, and my daughter loves her! I have seen my daughter blossom mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, in language skills, potty training...you name it, in the last year she has been at the school, due to the passion, knowledge, encouragement and nurturing of Ms Hulya and the school. We are thankful for having the opportunity to send our child here, and the peace of mind of knowing that she is happy, healthy and thriving each day, and appreciate that Ms Huyla works with us as a team in providing what is best for our daughter, and helping her grow and develop in all ways. Thank you TRM!!

My 2 year old twin boys Ethan and Evan were with Ms. Hulya for one year at TreeRoots Montessori. The boys loved it and it was the perfect first step for young kids to experience a learning environment outside of the home, but still in a very nurturing and comfortable environment. Ms. Hulya is a wonderful teacher who balances loving care with structure and a strong focus on education. My boys switched to a new school only because they needed a larger and more separate environment. I would highly recommend Ms. Hulya's TreeRoots Montessori to anyone looking for a home-away-from-home school environment for their children!

Ms. Hulya taught my son, who is now in third grade, and my daughter, who is now in kindergarten, and I can’t say enough good things about Ms Hulya. Not only is she incredibly patient with children, but she gets such delight from children’s nuances and their ways of seeing the world. She understands so well what is important to them and respects it and translates it to learning and developing. She is excellent at capitalizing on their strengths and encouraging them through challenges. She also believes in and understands Montessori wholeheartedly. In addition to the excellent academic environment, I loved all the little extras at Tree Roots that kids wouldn’t necessarily get in a larger, more formal school. Among other things, Ms. Hulya often plays music for them, lets them eat outside, cooks and bakes with them, and makes or buys them personalized items like work bags, aprons, and slippers. Both my children have done really well since moving on to grade school. Ms. Hulya gave them a strong foundation not only in math and language but in being kind and responsible people. And, both my kids still ask to visit her regularly!

Our little girl was only 14 months old when we had to leave her to a daycare. After we had a few bad experiences, we met Ms. Hulya. We went to her place, which was a very lovely environment she created in her house. Our daughter used to start crying right away when we took her to a daycare for a trial, but this time she started running in the house chasing the cat, amazingly looking at the fish in the aquarium, playing with the toys, etc. That day, we left the place with a very positive impression and our daughter started going there the next day. In her first day, she was again upset a little bit when she realized that her mom and dad were not there, but Ms. Hulya handled the situation very well. She was very calm, warm, sincere, and did a very good job explaining why we were not there and when we would come to pick her up. On the other hand, I and my wife were very nervous and concerned about our daughter’s feelings and state in her first day. Then, a miracle happened :) Ms. Hulya sent us a video of our daughter not crying but having a good time. That video cleared out the dark clouds in my head :) As the days go by, our daughter learned a lot of things to do by herself, which she wouldn’t do at home at all. That even affected very positively how we handle our daughter at home and made a lot of things like eating, drinking, going to bed, etc very easy for us. Luckily we live very close to Ms. Hulya’s place. Both my wife and I highly recommend Three Roots Montessori to everyone. You won’t regret :)

My daughter attended Tree Roots Montessori and we both had a wonderful experience! Ms. Hulya is an excellent hands on teacher and she provided my daughter with love and support, while at the same time, encouraging her independence. Academically, my daughter left Tree Roots Montessori with a strong foundation in number concepts, phonetics, reasoning ability and daily life skills. These skills have helped her tremendously in kindergarten and first grade. Ms. Hulya's in home classroom is well designed and my daughter really enjoyed the small class size and I was happy that my daughter received so much personal attention.

My son has attended Tree Roots Montessori (TRM) for about 9 months, and my husband and I couldn't be happier with our family's experience there. Our son previously attended a different, high-end childcare center in Tempe, and we see a huge difference the level of personal attention that our son receives at TRM vs. what he received at his previous school. At TRM, our son has the opportunity to engage in a Montessori curriculum while still receiving the type of individualized attention and care that every parent would want for their child. Since coming to TRM, both my husband and I (and my parents, who spend at least one day a week with our son) have observed big improvements in his confidence, independence, and listening skills. We very, very highly recommend TRM to any family looking for a high quality educational and nurturing environment for their child.

Our son is currently attending Tree Roots Montessori and we have had a wonderful experience. Mrs Hulya is a very compassionate person who cares about your kids but also wants to make sure they grow and learn practical lessons. Our son has made tremendous progress while attending Tree Roots. I also find it fantastic that Mrs Hulya will take the extra time to speak w/ us, give advice and is overall very supportive in and outside of the classroom!!! We love the Montessori system.
