We have two children attending Playhouse and love our school! Our older child has been there for 3 years, from when he first turned to 2 all the way through PreK. We really wanted an option where our children would learn Mandarin, but we love that Playhouse also offers an incredible Montessori experience as well. Our children come home and speak, sing in Mandarin, and they are chopping up fruit safely on their own, putting toys away in their place once they are done, and cutting paper with scissors way beyond when we thought this would be possible. We love how the school instills a sense of competence and independence in them through their daily Montessori "work." We also love how loving and caring all of the teachers are. Our older child's teacher wrote a handwritten card for every single child on the last day of school. Every day our children run into the hallway without looking back at us, and when we see how they run into their teachers' arms we can tell that they feel safe, listened to, and cared for with these adults. Both of our children were also supported in their potty training and the school was incredible in asking about what we did at home and reinforcing those rules (for us, that was not putting on diapers even if accidents happened). We know many parents whose daycares made their children regress because the daycare did not follow the parents' rules and wishes so we feel so grateful to have had our school's support in this. Lastly, we have had a wonderful experience being able to partner with each teacher and the school leader on any ongoing themes observed in our children - whether it be shyness or trying to express anger in more healthy ways. We're so grateful to have found a school that is communicative and open with us on areas where our littles need a little more support in their development, so that we can reinforce similar messages or offer similar encouragement at home.

I sent my child there for 2 years and it was the best decision I did for her, the teachers and the school director are spectacular and the school facility is brand new. My daughter learned an additional language and culture, the academic level is very high and the school communication is great. My daughter was so excited to go to school every day and for this I’m eternally grateful to playhouse! It’s also a nice community of parents. I wish they offered older grades so we could stay! Thanks for everything you have done for my family.

Our daughter was enrolled in the private 3s and 4s programs at Playhouse before it received 3K for All and UPK for All funding through the NYC DOE; our son was enrolled for 2s (private), 3K and UPK. Shortly after our daughter enrolled in Kindergarten at HudsonWay Immersion School, her teachers were curiously in awe of her Southern Chinese accent since we do not speak Mandarin in our home. Her acquired ability to sound like a native speaker was a testament to truly immersive language education programs, like the nearly-100% Mandarin Montessori model of the pre-DOE version of Playhouse. While the required English curriculum imposed by DOE funding has limited our son’s current fluency in Mandarin, we remain grateful for the bilingual exposure in early childhood education that is still present at Playhouse, as well as the foundation it has provided as he begins Kindergarten in the intensely immersive Mandarin environment at HWIS. Bilingual education aside, Playhouse exceeded our expectations year-to-year in all other areas of ECE, from play-based learning to social and emotional guidance. And we greatly appreciated the personalized attention our family received from both the administration and the teachers time and again. While we hope the DOE will eventually catch up to the cognitive benefits of full language immersion (for all), we can think of no better investment or gift for our children than the currency of language.

After 2 years of being with Playhouse (3K and PreK) I am sad our child is graduating and leaving. We amongst some other parents were originally waited listed and whenever I talk to another parents about Playhouse we always talk about how lucky we are to have enrolled into the school. I love how there are new themes each week and they are always doing something different everyday. The curriculum is well thought out and top notch. Playhouse has been like family to us and I have never seen staff care about my child as much as I do. Most importantly, my child has a bright smile and laughter when I pick her up everyday for the past 2 years.

It was very bad experience , that i sent my kids to Playhouse. The teacher there is very rude and unprofessional for no reason , wish I never saw such an ugly face.

An absolute gem. We are lucky to have found Playhouse NYC. The dedicated teachers, routines, small classes, and attention to child’s individual learning are exceptional. Founder is accessible, active daily with all aspects of the school’s operation, and has excellent judgment in staff.

Bilingual. Montessori with DOE option. High ceiling with commercial grade ventilation (mentioning due to COVID, future reader). Staff and teachers are amazing. Lots of notes and photos of their day.

We just started at Playhouse and we are so glad we made the switch from another daycare. Ms Heidi is an enthusiastic teacher who really cares about her students. Ms Justine and Ms Nina I have had less interactions with but I know we are in good hands. I love seeing the work they do everyday. It is thoughtful, creative and engaging. The director Ms Sandy is hardworking, detailed, thorough and a great listener. Thank you Playhouse! Positive Responsiveness, Reliability, Quality, Professionalism, Value
