A few months back I had found myself in a position that no parent wants to face which resulted in evidently pulling my son on behalf of the directors prompting. This was not long after an incident involving a staff member who was assisting with drop off was brought to their attention. The situation did not sit right with me at all aiding in the cause for my concern about my child’s well-being which made me eagerly ask my son questions as I noticed the shift in his behavior that was beginning to become a rising issue at drop off when this specific caregiver was present and frustrated. I had said many times that if these things were being said and children were being spoke to in this manner when parents were around, what was being said when there weren’t any around. I was then informed that “that caregiver isn’t even in his class” contrary to this instructor being actively involved with drop off and is clearly resulting in some sort of changed behavior I noticed in my child. It left a pit in my stomach leaving him. This led to multiple conversations that were not productive ending with head director Mikeesha Woods making the call to end service and care. My husband and I agreed knowing we ourselves wouldn’t feel comfortable sending our son back for following care. Before daycare I was very reluctant and had my discrepancies about leaving my son in the care of others while I was out working away from him, all the while they met my doubts of not being able to effectively collaborate to meet the needs of my son after multiple occasions I brought up concerns regarding the changes in my son and his behavior over the 6 months he was in their care. She then claimed that they ask and acquire about a care plan if they suspect a child has higher needs which was false after I had began to bring to their attention my concern that my son may need extra attention hence being the youngest toddler in their care. Ahead of pulling him, I had asked for resources that she did not send over after we had spoke, so I went ahead and got ahold of a care team to further assess my worries and get it handled without wasting anymore time. Since being in a new daycare I have noticed such a positive change in his overall attitude & demeanor. Yes, she was in fact correct that their environment at ‘The Woods’ was not right for my son and I am so happy to have made the move and see my son excelling and himself again. Might note as well that his “allergies” & stuffy noses have not returned since changing facilities which was starting to become a concern for his overall health after trying to eliminate any factors that could have been causing this to flare up at home (cleanliness, pets, dust, etc.) I was also even given a suggestion from employee that we should maybe get rid of our cats at home if his nose was such an issue, we are so happy to learn that it wasn’t from his animals but the overall sanitation of the woods daycare that was starting to rack up doctors visit and sick days that we were not credited for hence he was sick and no 2 week notice can be given with illnesses, completely understandable. Leaving this here to just make other parents aware and review solely off our family’s own personal experience
