I initially contacted this child care facility with the utmost concern for my daughter's safety and well-being while I was out of state. As a parent with full custody, it was crucial for me to ensure that she was in a stable and secure daycare environment. My intention was to inquire about her needs, particularly her dietary requirements, before making any decisions. However, my experience with Mrs. Ruthie, the person I spoke to, was deeply disappointing. Mrs. Ruthie's demeanor towards me was rude and unpleasant right from the beginning. Instead of addressing my concerns or allowing me to inquire about my daughter's dietary needs, she responded with hateful words and refused to let me speak. It was evident that she had no interest in understanding my situation or assisting me in any way. When I mentioned that I lived several states away and that my daughter was visiting her father for the summer, Mrs. Ruthie flat-out refused to make any accommodations. She insisted that I prove my identity by physically showing up at the facility. Despite offering alternative methods such as presenting identification, court documentation, and even my daughter's birth certificate, Mrs. Ruthie showed no willingness to cooperate. She explicitly stated that she didn't care whether I was the mother or not and made derogatory remarks that left me feeling disrespected. As an African American, I understood the underlying implications of her words and the lack of respect she displayed. Feeling deeply hurt and insulted, I chose to end the call at that point. It's disheartening to encounter such unprofessional behavior when reaching out for assistance and support. As a concerned parent, I strongly advise against entrusting your child's well-being to this daycare facility, as my experience with Mrs. Ruthie was indicative of their overall disregard for parents' needs and lack of professionalism. It is my hope that this review serves as valuable feedback for the daycare facility, encouraging them to address these issues and improve their approach to customer service and inclusivity. — Notice the center does not deny racial commentary and being completely unprofessional.

Horrible staff!!! They do not communicate with the parents if something happened, and when I asked about certain instances and other things my child experienced I was brushed off and ignored. What really upset me, my son is really really allergic to milk. I told the staff, and it was on all his intake forms, why one week into him attending did he come home with a body full of hives leaving me to take him to the emergency room and they said it was because he had some milk at the daycare. I am so threw with this plce!

Both of my children have spent time at Ms. Ruthie’s where they were treated like family. Ms. Ruthie and her staff really took their time to stay involved in my child’s progress, communicating with me and providing updates almost daily. I love that the Learning Center is actually a house because it really makes it feel like a home. Thanks Ms. Ruthie for all you do!

My son went there for about a month and hated it. She never once took him outside to play even though it was in the schedule she gave us and the property has a playground.

Best small childcare center on the Coast! Ruthie has been a childcare provider for almost 35 years and has owned her own business for almost 20. If you are looking for a happy, caring place for your children you will be very pleased as many Coast parents have been for years.

Awful place, I do not recommend taking your children here. My children went here for one day and then I removed them. I am military, so my children now up to age 16 have been to several different daycares (this was for my 2 younger children however) and I have never had a problem. When I fir st walked into this place, I was a bit concerned, as there is no reception area. She just let's people in the door and all the children are right there in one room. That to me is a bit scary, as anyone could just walk up in there. Also, with covid, it's just absolutely unsafe that she allows parents inside everyday in the area where all of the children are just right there and walk up to parents they don't even know to say hi, etc. On another note, the first day, I dropped my 2 children off and when I came back to pick them up, Ruthie seemed quite upset. Apparently my 4 year old had an accident and in the commotion of being in a new place, he urinated in his pants. Easy fix right? I had given her a change of clothes that morning and all that needed to be done was to get him to change. However, the scary part is that my son stated that, "Ms. Ruthie got mad at me and she slapped my tinkie." That is the scary part and it is not okay at all. First off, being a childcare provider, you know that sometimes they can forget things like going to the bathroom on their first day. Secondly, that is abuse and ridiculing him or slapping him there is especially not okay. Also, she stated in a quite angry manner that apparently when my 3 year old went to the bathroom, he urinated slightly on her by accident. Neither of my children have had these issues at their previous daycares (we just moved here). And again, being in this industry, you should know that there are certain possible hazards, but she seemed quite angry that this happened. When I asked my son about it he seemed very ashamed and apologetic. Both of my children also stated that because of their accidents, when all other children went outside to play for the day, Ruthie told them that they could not go outside to play with the other children. Because of their accidents, they were being punished by not going outside to play. It was obviously an accident and why these things happened to them here and not elsewhere, I am at a loss as to why. I immediately let Ruthie know that my children would not be returning. I do not recommend sending your children here. This is every parent's nightmare come true.
