Became a nightmare! Elementary was wonderful! My daughter loved her time there, Employees wonderful BUT Director Rae Christiansen both physically and emotionally abused my sweet quiet 3yr old son who changed dramatically in 3 weeks after she got her hands on him -literally. Staff eventually reported the abuse to me. I was attending college and it turned in to a life changing event for my son. She was making him sleep on the floor when others had cots, Taking away activity trays that other teachers had given him permission to use thereby confusing him AND she would seat him on her lap and twist him like a pretzel on her lap till he cried to "get his birth anger out". was her reasoning. Some staff quit over this including a future Montessori teacher who was doing her internship. It took months to get him not to be so defensive and he changed so much from this experience. It was awful and I found out some other parents had taken her to court over her treatment of their daughter. She made odd comments about his race to other kids as well which I overheard myself when she didn't know I was standing outside the door about to pick him up.He was only (Native) non-white kid there at the time. I was told she was an ex psychiatric nurse and that her own daughter didn't talk to her and was a nun in Tibet. I don't know if that's true or not but the woman is not well. She should not be around children. **I understand from the Golden Mountain Montessori school response that Rae Christiansen is no longer the owner of the school. My son is still suffering from Rae Christiansen's actions as I'm sure are the staff that had to protect my son and thankfully took a stand. I believe in Montessori and as a devoted HS teacher myself, I hope the best for all staff and students. Those that belong in the profession teach because we truly love our students and want them to thrive. I'm sure that without the prior owner you have taken this pre-school to a higher and safer level. Parents should always take note when toddlers or any age child suddenly undergo a drastic behavior change. Thank you for you response.

My son goes to the Golden Mountain Montessori school 8th street and we have had a wonderful experience! He is a very sensitive and shy toddler but walks in the door smiling when I drop him off. It makes it easier leaving him knowing he is happy!

We love Golden Mountain Montessori! More importantly our toddler loves it too. She returns home happy (and tired!) every day. The staff are professional and caring, we definitely feel like family at Golden Mountain. The administrative team is great at communicating and keeping us up to day on all the happenings as well as letting us know how our toddler is doing throughout the day. The most important thing for us is that the staff is safety minded. We NEVER worry about our high-energy little one is going to get herself into something she shouldn't. In summary, we HIGHLY recommend Golden Mountain Montessori. We couldn't be happier with the staff, facility and programming!

My sons both attend Golden Mountain Montessori, one at the preschool and one at the toddler center. I can’t say enough how much they love it and how happy they are. The teachers are fabulous, attentive, and caring. They’ve both learned so much and have become more social.
