As a parent of two children who have attended Alcuin in Queen Anne, I could not recommend this school enough . This preschool truly stands out with its comprehensive approach to early childhood education, ensuring our children are well-prepared for school. Ms. Williams excels in teaching the basics, with a strong focus on phonics and reading time. She ensures that each child develops essential literacy skills, fostering a love for reading from an early age. Art projects are a highlight at Alcuin. My children got to use varied mediums. There was also a performance done annually. The school also places a strong emphasis on outdoor activities, with regular walks and sandbox playtime. These experiences are invaluable in promoting curiosity, physical activity, and an appreciation for nature. One of the most impressive aspects of Alcuin is its focus on fostering independence. Ms. Williams encourages children to develop self-confidence and autonomy, which are crucial skills for their overall growth. It was heartwarming to see our children become more independent and self-assured each day. Ms. Williams is truly as gem and has such depth of knowledge for how she runs her school. I highly recommend Alcuin to any family looking for a nurturing and stimulating preschool experience.

Our child has thrived in the environment Chris has created, which is a great balance of structure and openness. Because of the small class size, Chris is able to give attention to each student and the students really get to know each other. So many of the students in the class have had siblings attend and there’s a real sense of community at the school. We highly recommend this school—it’s a real treasure in our neighborhood.

We had two kids attend Alcuin and couldn't be happier with the experience. They entered K very well prepared socially, emotionally, and academically. We still see Ms Williams around the neighborhood and my kids always want to give her a hug and tell her what they've been up to in elementary school.
