Field & Study Montessori Pre-School / Playgroup

A lovely, nurturing school with small classes and individual attention. My son is very shy and really flourished at the school! I love that they have weekly nature walks where they go to feed the horses! And lots of other lovely activities for the children to learn and grow. His grasping of letters and numbers is really great and I feel he is well prepared for big school! We will miss the school a lot but are very thankful to teachers Julia and Gabby for the devotion and love shown to the children!

My little girl joined the F&S Montessori at just 15 months and during her time at the pre-school, her intellectual and social development has been amazing to witness. "Teacher Julia, Teach Gabby and Bridget" have created a wonderfully nurturing and stimulating environment for little people, and their experience is certainly evident. I highly recommend this pre-school for the teachers' attention to and interest in every child's development, their warm and grounded disposition and their mission to equip young children with the skills that set them up for future success, in and out of the classroom.

Our little girl started at the F&S Montessori at just 16 months. During her time at the school, she has absolutely flourished and we are so sad to be leaving. Julia has created the most wonderful, warm and nurturing environment that allows little children to blossom and grow. From the activities and individual attention, to regular nature walks, it really is the most wonderful and holistic learning experience for children. We feel so very fortunate that our little girl was able to spend some of her most important formative years here. A very special school that I would highly recommend to any parent.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have chosen the Field and Study Montessori preschool for our daughter. Situated by the Field and Study park, the weekly nature walks have become a cherished part of our daughter's routine, allowing her to interact with animals like horses, bunnies, and ducks. Teacher Julia and Teacher Gabby have been more than instructors; they've been mentors and friends. Our daughter's comfort in sharing everything with them reflects the trusting and loving relationship they've cultivated. The Montessori approach, coupled with a range of learning materials and activities, has empowered our child to learn at her own pace, fostering confidence, independence, curiosity and a genuine love for learning. It was really wonderful to hear our daughter's eagerness to share her school experiences everyday. As our daughter embarks on a new chapter at the "big" school, we are grateful for the supportive environment that has played a crucial role in her formative years. Without hesitation, we recommend this preschool to parents seeking a nurturing place for their child's growth and development.

Our daughter is about to complete a year of wonder at the Field and Study Montessori and we feel we would be remiss to not take a moment to acknowledge and share this incredible experience created by Teacher Julia and Teacher Gabby. No words would do justice to the value we attach to the joy our daughter (and thus we) have experienced throughout this year, but I'll give it a go. We started the year with a child who showed clear trepidation and unease going to another school last year, which we didn't really understand. We made the decision to take on an arduous trek through Johannesburg each day because, after meeting Teacher Julia before the school year this year, we were immediately convinced she had created the right environment for our daughter. We end this year with a child whose curiosity, thirst for learning, love of play and confidence has returned and blossomed further. This school is a literal and figurative hidden gem. It has been one of the best decisions of our lives to have passed our precious child through its warm embrace.

My son absolutely loved being at Field & Study Montessori. He was fortunate to have been in both Teacher Julia and Teacher Gabby's class during his time there and frequently explained after class how much he enjoyed a specific activity or interaction. He still thinks back on his days there and remembers them all fondly. They both had a very positive and uplifting impact on Mathias and I could see how beautifully he was growing in all areas. I believe in the Montessori method and appreciate how involved the teachers are in your child's overall growth and development. I am forever grateful and cannot recommend this amazing school enough. Julia and Gabby are the best teacher pair! Our daughter thrived in their care, blossomed with confidence and loved every day she went to school.
